Although the Equal Justice Works, Skadden and Justice Catalyst (and others!) application deadlines aren’t until the fall, some organizations have internal application deadlines to put forward candidates for these competitive project-based fellowships. These deadlines usually are in June and July in order to allow plenty of time to craft a project proposal in August and early September. Many organizations don’t have internal application deadlines but applicants should be reaching out to Executive Directors or fellowship attorneys at these organizations during this same timeframe to secure a placement and checking fellowship information on the websites of organizations of interest.
To find organizations with internal application deadlines, use PSJD. To begin, login to PSJD.org and click on “Search Jobs.” Keep your search broad and select “Job Qualities,” “Job Type,” “Legal: Project-Based (e.g., Skadden)” and click “Search.” You can sort the postings by deadline date and further refine your search results using the options on the right of your screen. Once your results match your interests, make sure to hover over the bell icon at the top of your results to turn email notifications on and ensure you don’t miss any new postings of interest.
