Every year, the University of Pennsylvania Law Review runs the Public Interest Essay Competition (PIEC), a writing competition for student-authored articles on the topic of social justice and public interest law. The details are as follows:
- Submissions: an unpublished student-authored essay of 6,000 words, and a 500 word grant proposal that requests support for a specific organization or the author’s own public interest work.
- Deadline: February 1, 2022, with submissions due online. The submission portal is officially open.
- Prize: the winner receives a $500 cash prize and a $5,000 grant to implement a public interest project related to the article.
