The next Access to Justice (ATJ) Commission Meeting is on January 28th from 3-5 via Zoom. These meetings are open to the public and BC Law students are encouraged to participate and learn about critical social justice issues in our community. Click this link to RSVP.

Highlights from the December 17th Meeting of the MA ATJ Commission

Commissioner Gladys Vega, Executive Director, La Colaborativa (formerly the Chelsea Collaborative) and Jennifer Howard, Director of Legal Programs, Rosie’s Place provided a critical perspective on the day to day challenges and crises their guests and communities are facing during the pandemic.

Commissioner Hon. Robert Fields and members of the MA ATJ Housing Committee presented an update and an overview of the status of housing and evictions. A discussion followed the presentation.

Commissioners Mary Ryan, Hon. Julie Bernard, Hon. Dina Fein, and Magistrate Clerk Anthony Owens provided an update and overview of the MA ATJ Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution Committee (ODR).  The Committee is focusing on the access to justice implications of court-based ODR as it impacts self-represented litigants.
